Malibu Education Foundation Announces Inaugural Santa Monica-Malibu Wine Auction

Santa Monica, Calif., March 7, 2016 – A tradition begins! The Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation (SMMEF) is excited to announce the inaugural Santa Monica-Malibu Wine Auction on Sunday, April 17 at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, the event’s sponsor hotel in Santa Monica. Presented by Dun & Bradstreet, MSD Capital/Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, Kaiser Permanente and Macerich/Santa Monica Place, the Santa Monica-Malibu Wine Auction will bring parents and community members together to sip, savor and raise funds for important programs for all local public school students.

In conjunction with the event, SMMEF will also host a large online auction for supporters throughout the community. The online auction will open April 6-18.

All proceeds from this event benefit SMMEF, which funds programs for every school in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. SMMEF-funded staff and programs include arts education for the district’s 4,900 elementary students, 87 instructional assistants, and enrichment grants for all 16 schools in the district. Most schools decide to use these grants to provide programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), visual and performing arts, or student wellness.

“We are thrilled to be launching this exciting event,” said Linda Greenberg, SMMEF Executive Director. “It will be a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to enjoy the best in food and wine, while raising funds for programs in every school in Santa Monica and Malibu.”
