Day one of The Taste hosted by the LA Times this past Labor Day weekend had the lots of Paramount Studios flocking with hundreds of food enthusiasts ready to get their weekend started with one of the years most anticipated food events in Los Angeles.  The event included a panel led by Food editor Russ Parsons and Providence chef Michael Cimarusti discussing sustainable fishing, as well as live doughnut making by pastry chef Sherry Yard and Ari Taymor of Alma making lavender-smoked duck.  The weekend also included a BBQ competition and a demonstration on how to make tomato pie

Evan Kleiman teaches an online class on pie making at Craftsy.com and gave event-goers at the Taste a live demonstration of her techniques on how to make the perfect cherry tomato and cheese pie with onions and garlic.  Kleiman is also the leading lady at a pie contest that will hold its fifth annual contest this month at LACMA where you can find over 200 entries.

The Taste is held throughout Labor Day weekend at Paramount Picture’s Studios every year and has been voted Southern Californias #2 food and wine event by bizbash. Don’t miss out, get your taste next year.
