I had the honor of covering Sue Wong’s amazing fashion show that opened Style Fashion week at the Reef in downtown Los Angeles. “I believe that every one of my models looked like Erte paintings that came to life on the runway, ” said legendary fashion designer Sue Wong. Sue is right. Her show was like a living work of art. Sue brought a whole new level of glamour and sophistication with her seductive and sensual rock opera “Fairies & Sirens” Spring 2015 collection. Over 900 guests that were invitation-only such as featured press, stylists, fashion editors, celebrities and ambassadorial delegates were in attendance as well as Sue’s many friends in music and entertainment. Sue was honored with the prestigious Tiffany Lifetime Achievement Award for enduring excellence in fashion design, presented to her by cool rocker Dave Navarro and charming actor Vincent De Paul. Many other celebrities were in attendance such as Miss J. Alexander and American’s Next Top Model Katie Cleary, who walked the runway at this show like a true signature siren.
Sue’s mantra is beauty magic transformation. What she creates is limitless beauty. “The alchemy of beauty is magical and the magic has the ability to transform. I would like to think that when a woman puts on a Sue Wong, she is magically transformed and connected to her ultimate divine goddess,” says talented designer Sue Wong.
The regal gowns and headdresses by Miss G Designs, Lisa Marinucci Design Marinucci, Kicka Custom Design and FIORI Couture were visual feasts for the eyes and really highlighted Sue’s amazing designs. This collection was a study in contrasts, which was inspired by the dual archetypes of the poetic, ethereal, and magical fairy and the vampish siren. The light and dark aspects of feminine nature has long been a part of our collective psyche from ancient times to the golden era of Hollywood to today. “Every woman is both a fairy and a siren,” articulated Sue insightfully. “I explored the dark and light side of feminine nature with this line. It has a philosophical overtone to it,” added Sue.
Sue’s new collection of flowing, jeweled, ethereal and elegant gowns are juxtaposed by seductive and sensual gowns of black lace, satin and chiffon, which exemplifies the fairy and siren in every woman.
“I’m excited that we are opening Style Fashion week with Sue’s beautiful designs. It’s been such an adventure and truly a journey to get to this point. We’ve been wanting to work with her for the past four years,” said a gleeful Veronica Kerzner, the founder and president of Style Fashion Week. “I’m so pleased to have Sue’s show on opening night of Style Fashion Week,” added Kerzner.
