dineL.A. Restaurant Week 2021: Locanda Positano

In spite of the COVID-19 restrictions, the dineL.A. event seems to be favored by the people of Los Angeles. People are enjoying their meals outdoors, ordering take-out, and ordering delivery, but I think local restaurants are starting to get busy again!

The Experience Magazine was able to try out a high end Italian restaurant “LOCANDA POSITANO” in Marina del Rey. It was raining during the day when we went to the restaurant, but luckily it cleared up in the evening!

I was surprised to see how many outdoor tables were available at this restaurant. It gets cold at night so there were enough outdoor heaters. It was a very nice environment and good for their business.

Their dineL.A. menu was well-choiced. 4 course meal – Appetizer, First course, Main course, and Dessert. Plenty of food to enjoy your meal! In addition to the dinner menu, a good selection of wine are also available.

Our choice of Appetizer was “Burrata alla Caprese” and “Calamari Fritti”. The heirloom tomatoes were so fresh, the burrata cheese was very creamy, and the tomatoes, cheese and olive all together in my month was very refreshing. I liked it a lot. Their Calamari sauce was also excellent. Perhaps a little cream was added to reduce the acidity. The sauce was also good with their bread.

We had “Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe” and “Risotto Al Funghi” as First course. Their signature homemade spaghetti was al dente and simple yet it was amazing flavor. I think the key is to use pecorino and romano cheese. And they use taleggio cheese in risotto. Risotto was also amazing. I really liked the flavors of the porcini and shiitake mushroom as well as the cheese. I wanted to keep eating them. We made good choices!

It wasn’t easy to choose one from the main course, but we had “Petto Di Pollo Al Limone” and “Branzino al Forno”. It was nice to have free range organic chicken! The lemon sauce on chicken was creamy but also lemony, so it was not heavy. Baked sea bass was very soft and flaky, it had light flavor. There were mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach on both plates. It was good to get some vegetables.

We had already eaten a lot of food, but we still had to have dessert, which was the best part! My choice of Italian dessert is not lost on me. It’s just Tiramisu. We also had Cannoli. Their Tiramisu tasted of fresh mascarpone cheese. Just perfect dessert to end the meal!

CANNOLI & TIRAMISU

Quality food, great service, warm atmosphere, It was a excellent experience! Once you dine here, you will understand how Chef Michelangelo uses the best quality ingredients and why he has been loved by the people in Los Angeles for over 10 years.
