FARM TO TABLE GOES MAINSTREAM AT GREENLEAF GOURMET CHOPSHOP

The Experience Magazine recently visited Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop in Costa Mesa. This restaurant is located in the ultra hip SOCO – Design Center.  Also known as the South Coast Collection.

We were greeted by manager Jordan. He was very knowledgeable about all of the menu items and made some great suggestions for our dinner. The atmosphere in the Greenleaf Costa Mesa location is very laid back and friendly. There are nice indoor tables and an inviting patio area. We ordered at the counter and sipped some Ginger Brew while our food was being prepared. The concept of Greenleaf Gormet Chopshop is very simple. Fast gourmet food that is organic, sustainable and fresh. They source from local farms that are all within 250 miles to the restaurant. The meat is raised hormone free. Its such a treat to dine on healthy food that tastes amazing.

The great thing about the menu at Greenleaf is that its customizable. There are many suggestestions on the menu for salads, but all the ingredients can be switched and changed as you like.
Chef and owner Jonathan Rollo created  Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop to provide high quality fresh ingredients that allow customers to eat better. His philosophy is that you don’t have to give up flavor in order to eat healthy. Executive Chef Kristi Ritchey Jordan has created some great menu items. The turkey melt seems to be a very popular item. It takes hormone free oven roasted turkey and melts Gruyere cheese, sautéed spinach with truffle oil and carmalized onions.  Whole grain mustard tops off a Dolce Forno Bakery’s pretzel bread. This is an award winning sandwich. However, we went on to sample one of the specials on the menu which was the Vegetable Pho. The Pho is gluten free. It was super delicious. You can customize salads and menu items. Everything is fresh and the service is very fast. We also ordered a grilled Salmon entree. This came with a kale salad. Also beets, walnuts and goat cheese side. Wow what incredible flavor.

The fresh made green drink was also super tasty. We had the Pina-kale-ada. It mixes kale, grilled pineapple, lemon and apple. Such great flavor! What a treat.
Jordan mentioned that one of the most popular items is the pizza. We were in for the treat with the Wild Mushroom Pizza. The crust is made from a tortilla which is crispy and delicious. The sauce was light and the flavors balanced perfectly. We devoted the pizza and were amazed at the gourmet flavor. Easily one of the best vegetarian pizzas I’ve ever tried.
