Talented actress and singer Ha Phuong is about to make her big US debut as the lead in The Haunted Secret, an upcoming indie film that is getting a lot of buzz. An amazing multi-hyphenate, Phuong is also writing, producing, and even editing this film. This beautiful Vietnamese native will be acting alongside legends such as Richard Chamberlain (The Thorn Birds, The Perfect Family) and Andrew McCarthy (Pretty in Pink, Snatched). Bai Ling (Bloodshed, Crank: High Voltage) and Paula Devicq (Arbitrage, Party of Five) as well as other accomplished actors round out the talented ensemble cast. “I’m very excited to be working with such a talented international cast and it’s great to use different aspects of my craft, being acting, writing, etc,” said Phuong.

Also known as the “Vietnamese Angelina Jolie” by her fans, she has studied dancing, singing and performing arts since childhood. While growing up in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), Vietnam’s largest and most bustling city, she participated in numerous talent shows, regional singing competitions as well as cultural and performing arts events. Phuong was born into a talented family with a long artistic tradition. Her father is renowned musician Tran Quang Hien. Along with her two sisters, Cam Ly and Minh Tuyet, the girls became famous singers of contemporary Vietnamese music, both as a trio and as solo acts.

Phuong has often been invited to perform throughout Asia and Europe over the years. Once she arrived in America in 2000, the biggest Vietnamese recording studios invited her to join their labels. She has worked with Trung Tam The Gioi Nghe Thuat and Asia Entertainment. Phuong is under an exclusive contract with Thuy Nga-Paris By Night, the largest Vietnamese music and media company in the world.

As if becoming a singing star was not enough, Phuong added actress to her resume, always dazzling her audiences and legions of fans with her numerous traditional and contemporary theater and movie roles in her homeland. In the US, she has studied privately with renowned acting coach Susan Batson, of New York, who has taught Hollywood superstars such as Nicole Kidman, Juliette Binoche, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Rock, Jamie Foxx, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, Liv Tyler, and Jennifer Connelly. Batson is also producing Phuong’s film, The Haunted Secret. In 2005, she created Ha Phuong Productions, a company that produces her selected music and film projects. She and her husband also created the Ha Phuong Foundation, a charity devoted to helping aspiring singers fulfill their dreams.

This accomplished young artist is the winner of many prestigious awards. She was a finalist in a national television competition growing up and additionally, the movie Ha Si Quan (Officer Cadet), in which she starred in, won second prize in film festivals nationwide. Here in the states, Phuong collaborated with Gioi Nghe Thuat Productions, Asia Entertainment, and Thuy Nga Productions.
