Society Unici and Avant Garde Magazine held their Couture du Couture event on Saturday December 20th at Unici Casa in Culver City. From body painted models in garter belts leaving little to the imagination to glamorous haute couture gowns, the event truly was a celebration of haute couture fashion. With designs from Sue Wong, Alexandre Dorriz, Xavier Othon, Jason Ryan, Ricardo Soltero, Andre Soriano, Calvin Hiep, Thomas and Edison, and Kalina Kovtun, it was a night of international fashion to the hilt.
“I’m so pleased to show everyone here my designs,” said Hiep.
“It feels amazing to be here tonight. I’m very excited about this show,” said Kovtun.
“I enjoyed showing my line at Unici, it was very artsy and interesting. The reaction to my collection was great. Lots of positive feedback. It was great exposure for a new designer like myself,” said Edison Cortez, President and Founder of Thomas and Edison.
“It’s so much fun to be here. The designs I’m showing tonight are a redux of all my most memorable pieces from my past photo campaigns,” said Dorriz. Fashion design is in Dorriz’s genes. His mother is esteemed fashion designer Shahla Dorriz. The Dorriz brand is known for working from the archives of rare Persian textiles that were hand-embroidered and finished by Shahla’s mother and grandmother. The House of Dorriz has preserved these archived textiles that are over 150 years old.
The event ambassadors were Michael Coustache and Maxim cover model Melanie Marden. The event co-hosts were Jenny Alter, Shawn Berry, Mayren Viray, Rinata Uri Lyon, Maria Elena Infantino, and Daniela Goulart.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be here tonight. I just want to thank my team and all the photographers and journalists. You guys help make it happen,” said Othon.
