On August 10th, Project Angel Food hosted it yearly Angel Awards where this years honoree was none other than award-winning actress and star of FOX’s “Glee” Jane Lynch, recognized for her philanthropic acheivements. With over 400 guests in attendance and countless celebrity supporters, this years celebration of the organization and it’s honorees was surely one to remember.
The Tuscan theme was chosen in honor of Italian-born Giada De Laurentiis, also recognized as a philanthropic role model. The evening began with a cocktail hour including a Viva Diva Wine Bar and silent auction. Brilliant “feed beeds”, bracelets hand-beaded by the non-profits clients, were given out in place of the standard neon-colored security wristbands. Purchasing one of the bracelets for just 5 dollars will provide one hot meal for a Project Angel Food client.
With the help of it supporters, Project Angel Food is able to prepare and deliver over 12,000 meals to those effected by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life threatening illnesses. This years Angel Awards raised enough funds to provide an estimated 40,000 meals that will be delivered to the doorstep of over 1,300 weekly clients.
