To understand Caffe Concerto in Koreatown, you have to try the lobster spaghetti. The Korean-Italian restaurant has a legendary chef who utilizes spices from all over the world. The atmosphere at Caffe Concerto is stylish and elegant. A full menu that has a huge wine list and gourmet coffee. The deserts are made in house and feature macaroons. You have to try a macaroon or two when you visit. The Experience Magazine got a chance to interview the folks at Caffee Concerto. Here’s what they had to say.
1. How long have you been open?
We have been open since June 2012.
2. What’s your concept?
The restaurant is called Caffé Concerto because it brings together a concert of flavors and cultures. The inspiration for the food and décor comes from our family’s travels to Spain and Italy, and the menu brings together flavors from Asian and Italian cuisine, as well as the art of French pâtisserie.
3. Tell me about the location of Caffe Concerto.
Caffé Concerto is located in the heart of Koreatown on 6th and Serrano. We are blocks away from the Line Hotel, The Normandie Club, Document Coffee Bar, and EMC Seafood and Oyster Bar. We are lucky to be in such great company!
4. Who is the chef?
Our Executive Chef is Eric Kim. He is also Executive Chef of Yen Sushi and Sake Bar. For this reason, it is common to find Japanese inspired sauces and appetizers on our menu at Caffé Concerto.
5. Do you use locally grown produce?
We have had a long standing relationship with our vendors, who provide us with very fresh produce. Whether they are locally grown, however, is not always disclosed to us.
6. Do you use any organic ingredients?
We use Strauss Milk, which is a high quality organic milk, and very fresh mascarpone from Italy. We also provide a very complete list of organic teas, and use organic extracts when making our macarons to keep the flavors concentrated. We try to keep seasonal fruits and veggies in our kitchen as well.
7. Do you change your menu?
Yes, our desserts change often with what is in season, as do our specialty drinks. Our food menu tends to stay the same as we try to keep things classic, but we always have a chef’s special that changes frequently and special pre-fixe menus for holidays.
8. Do you make anything from scratch?
We make all our desserts in-house and from scratch. Our pesto, bread, and sauces, and dressings are all homemade.
9. What are the top five items on the menu?
Steamed Garlic Mussels
Milk France Macaron
10. Is there something that would surprise us to know about Caffe Concerto?
We’re never closed! We are open during all holidays
