Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 illuminated downtown Los Angeles with thisyear’s theme “Fashion in a New Light” at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday, September 12th. The star-studded fundraiser, which also visits Minneapolis, Chicago and San Francisco, brought together musical performances, the best of fall fashion, and the most glam after-party in town for one exceptional evening to raise awareness and funds for long-standing partner AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). Founded in 1983, APLA has grown to become one of the largest and most effective AIDS service organizations in the nation, currently serving more than 11,000 people annually with first-rate HIV/AIDS care and prevention programs. Starring in this year’s show was multi-platinum pop-powerhouse Backstreet Boys. Cirque du Soleil, a group that has brought wonder and delight to more than 100 million spectators in over 40 countries on six continents, amazed the audience with elements from Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Also performing was Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest winner, The Summer Set, a five-member punk rock group originally formed by two Arizona-based brothers who started out writing tunes inspired by Jimmy Eat World and The Format.
Devoted AIDS activist and award-winning actress Sharon Stone, who has been an integral part of Glamorama for over a decade, took the stage to share the state of the epidemic today and her compassionate call to action.Fall fashion collections featured on the runway included Calvin Klein, Diesel, Rachel Rachel, Roy, Tallia Orange, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend Max Mara, and Macy’s newest Impulse collection Maison Jules. Models’ looks were completed with make up by MAC.
Following the show at the Orpheum Theater, the evening continued downtown at the illuminated After Party at California Market Center. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres by Joshua Whigham, Chef de Cuisine of The Bazaar by Jose Andres, included Croquetas de Pollo (Chicken and Béchamel Fritters), Chistorra (Spanish Pigs in a Blanket), Ottoman Carrot Fritters with Apricots and Pistachio Sauce, Wagyu Beef, Caviar Cone, and Liquid Olives. Guests of the party spun the prize wheel in the American Express Lounge, enjoyed specialty cocktails from Patrón Spirits, danced to music by DJ Brandon Olds, mingled with cast and crew, had a consultation and touch up with a MAC Cosmetics expert before posing with at the Patrón Photo Shoot, grabbed a snack at the LUNA Bar wall, discovered their fortune at the Patrón Fashion Fortune Teller Booth, and stopped by for a sweet treat at the LA Times Cotton Candy Cart.
