(EXPERIENCE MAGAZINE) — LOS ANGELES, CA — (AUG 5, 2019) The American Cancer Society’s California Spirit 2019 will take place on Saturday, August 18th, 2019. Cal Spirit is one of L.A.’s top charity events. Currently in its 34th year, funds raised at this event support the Society’s groundbreaking research, free services for patients, early detection and education programs.

This year features many well known celebrities and philanthropists. Patrick Dempsey is set to receive the Impact Award from the American Cancer Society. Patrick Dempsey is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Derek Shepherd on the hit ABC series, “Grey’s Anatomy.” Patrick’s mother had multiple bouts with cancer. Patrick founded the Dempsey Center in 2008. The Dempsey Center provides a range of services including massage, acupuncture counseling, yoga, and nutrition services for individuals, families, and caregivers dealing with cancer.

Co Chairs are Sherry Lansing and Phil Rosenthal. Sherry Lansing is known for being the CEO at Paramount Pictures. She also founded California Spirit when her mom passed away from cancer. Phil Rosenthal is an Emmy winning writer and the creator of “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

The Chef for this years Cal Spirit 34 is Antonia Lofaso. She’s the Chef and owner at Black Market Liquor Bar and Scopa Italian Roots in Venice, California. Black Market Liquor Bar is a hot spot gastropub in Studio City. Scopa is an old school Italian joint like you might find in New York City. People love Scopa. Cant wait to see what Chef Antonia comes up with!

This years event chairs are Joy Davis and JB Wilhelm. Joy is a cancer survivor and days she owes everything to the Society’s early detection program. JB is hoping to help save lives with the Society and works with Joy as Co-chair of the event. Emcee is blogger June Quan who is currently taking Los Angeles by storm.

The Experience Magazine looks forward to this charitable event. As the American Cancer Society likes to say, “Save lives, fulfill yours!”
