33rd ANNUAL EVENING UNDER THE STARS GOURMET FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL

(EXPERIENCE MAGAZINE)  Torrance, CA — Saturday , August 24th, 2019  This distinctive event was blessed with perfect California weather, setting the tone for what would be nothing less than a truly magnificent evening. Held at the iconic Honda Center, the way 33rdannual “EVENING UNDER THE STARS” was tailored to be an exceptional night of food, beverages and memorable festivities. From the moment you entered the venue one encountered an immense assortment of gourmet dishes, wines, craft beers, coffees, teas, music and entertainment. What an absolutely well planned, organized, executed and delectable event this was and has become over the years.

Some of the finest Southern California gourmet cuisine was served, by a variety of exclusive restaurants & culinary experts, featuring an assortment of their signature dishes. Benihana provided a delectable fried rice with shrimp, in addition to mouth watering crispy shrimp and California rolls. Sodexo whipped up savory southwestern crab cakes, with sun dried tomato aioli. Ise-Shima, at the Miyako plated a most delicious octopus dumpling, complimented by a green mousse plum wine jello, which caused a somewhat lengthy line to form. In addition, Sushi Chef Institute prepared the most tantalizing tuna poke, cold ramen with ginger dressing and vegan hand rolls. Rock & Brews jalapeno poppers turned out to be a definite winner with all in attendance.

Doubletree introduced a surprisingly flavorful octopus salad, which kept them coming back for more. Not to be slighted, Depot pleased those in attendance with its captivating basa, enhanced with lemon caper sauce, that simply melted in your mouth. Bettolino Kitchens lemon tortelloni with ricotta and spinach was a definitive crowd pleaser. Disneyland Resorts sommelier’s were on hand pouring a wide variety of exquisite wine pairings and throughout the night there was never an empty glass. The evening was highlighted by the auctioning of several very generous sports/vacation/gift packages, benefiting healthcare for youth within the community… and might we say, the bidding was quite brisk. The evenings entertainment was provided by none other than the incomparable Kenny G, who came with his “A” game of jazz and latin offerings. The festival committee, Honda, Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and Torrance Memorial are to be commended, for they undoubtedly pulled out all the stops in producing this years phenomenal affair.

In addition, the event was also sponsored and supported by the Rolling Hills Country Club, Paul Martin’s American Grill, Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Truxton’s American Bistro, Red Car Brewery & Restaurant, Zinc @ Shade/Craft Kitchen, Riboli Family Wines, Nothing Bundt Cakes, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Wooden Valley Winery and The Honda Classic/PGA Tour Professional Wines. The Experience Magazine was extremely impressed with the level of exuberance channeled into this years event and we eagerly anticipate the excitement surrounding the presentation of “EVENING UNDER THE STARS” 2020… Kudos!
