(EXPERIENCE MAGAZINE) — Los Angeles, CA — As part of our Dine LA Winter 2025 coverage, Experience Magazine embarked on a delightful gastronomic adventure in Santa Monica, exploring five standout gourmet restaurants: Fitoor, Aroma Café, Bianca, Bang Bang Noodles, and Mon Ami. Each venue offered a unique dining experience, showcasing the diverse flavors and culinary artistry that characterize the local food scene.
Fitoor: A Passion for Modern Indian Cuisine

in Santa Monica for Dine LA
Our journey began at Fitoor, a modern Indian restaurant that has quickly become a must-visit destination since its opening in December. The stylish interior, adorned with wood flooring and gold accents, creates an inviting atmosphere just steps from the ocean. The menu, crafted by restaurateurs Anu and Vikram Bhambri, features wood-fired and grilled Indian dishes that beautifully blend tradition with contemporary flair.

During our visit, we enjoyed innovative cocktails: Pary sipped the Polynesian Breeze, a sweet and fruity delight, and the Sakura, served in a stem cocktail glass and balanced in sweetness. Erwin opted for the unique Cordelia, made with clarified yogurt, gin, absinthe, dill, and elderflower, which offered a refreshing twist. I started with the Nylon Sev with chutney, a flavorful introduction to the meal.

We sampled innovative cocktails, including the Polynesian Breeze and the unique Cordelia, which combined clarified yogurt with gin and elderflower. The culinary highlights included the Purple Potato Ragda Patty and the Alleppey Prawn & Fish Curry, both bursting with flavor. To finish, we enjoyed the Pistachio Puff Gujia, a delightful sweet treat. Fitoor stands out for its passion and creativity, making it a fantastic addition to Santa Monica’s dining scene.
Aroma Café: A Mediterranean Gem
Next, we visited Aroma Café, a family-owned establishment in West Los Angeles that has been serving the community since 2004. Known for its Mediterranean cuisine, Aroma Café prides itself on using fresh, seasonal ingredients in every dish.

We began with a delightful soup made from broccoli, potato, carrot, and cherry tomatoes, which offered a burst of freshness. The vegetarian sandwich, filled with sautéed zucchini, bell pepper, feta, and onions, paired perfectly with the soup. For dessert, we indulged in baklava alongside a freshly made latte. The attentive service and commitment to quality made Aroma Café a standout experience.
Bianca: Italian Excellence in Culver City

Our culinary tour continued at Bianca, an Italian restaurant in Culver City known for its gourmet bakery and award-winning chefs. A reservation is highly recommended due to its popularity among locals and movie studio staff alike.

We started with the Pizza alla Margherita, a traditional delight featuring fresh dough and classic toppings. For the main course, we savored the grilled New Zealand Ora Salmon, served on a bed of arugula and fennel, perfectly cooked to our request. To conclude our meal, we indulged in the rich Grandma Chocolate Cake, complemented by a latte. The impeccable service and fresh, flavorful dishes made Bianca a memorable stop on our culinary journey.
Bang Bang Noodles: A Flavorful Adventure

At Bang Bang Noodles, we dove into a diverse menu featuring a $25 Dine LA special. Erwin opted for the spicy vegan bowl, while the Japanese pancake side dish added a delightful twist. The vibrant flavors and comforting textures made this a satisfying experience, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to quality and creativity.

Mon Ami: An Intimate Culinary Experience
Finally, we visited Mon Ami, a hidden jewel near the Santa Monica Pier. Chef Daniel Ultich welcomed us with a selection of expertly crafted signature cocktails, including the El Rey and Casa Blanca. Our first course, Zeppole, featured crispy dough garnished with garlic oil and spicy tomato sauce, setting the stage for the second course: Vongole Pasta with fresh clams and a heavenly blend of garlic, herbs, and butter.

Mon Ami’s intimate atmosphere and top-notch service, along with Chef Ultich’s culinary insights, made this a fitting conclusion to our Dine LA adventure.
