The Experience Magazine Checks Out DineL.A. 2023

(EXPERIENCE MAGAZINE)  Los Angeles, CA  The Experience Magazine stopped by several amazing restaurants for DineLA 2023. Starting with Westside hotspot Ospi, we went to Beverly Bar in Beverly Hills, Filipino favorite Spoon and Pork, must try Carasau in Culver City and pizza at Chill Since ’93 at the Grove.

Ospi Venice

We started DineLA Restaurant Week 2023 at Ospi in Venice. What a great way to sit down for lunch and try something new. We had a pizza, spaghetti and desert all on the prix fixe, DineLA menu. Ospi featured a DineLA lunch menu for $25 per person. We chose an antipasti dish and an entree. The Japanese Eggplant had tasty spicy tomato oil, and basil. It was delicious. I could’ve kept eating the Japanese Eggplant all night. The cauliflower flavoured with tahini had bits of dates and full of flavour. For an entree we had a Copione pizza. It was thin crust and very crispy. It had sopressata, honey and chili. We highly recommend Ospi for lunch!

Beverly Bar

On May 2nd, we stopped by the super swanky Beverly Bar. Located in the Golden Triangle of Beverly Hills, this boutique bar is sleek and caters to executives, Beverly Hills residents and tourists. Chef Brice has created a chef based menu. The staff is super friendly and the food was super fresh. It’s hard to find a nice place in Beverly Hills to sit down and have a quick bite. There are tons of high end clothing stores and not a lot of bars and restaurants. Beverly Bar offers a really nice place for anyone to come have drink and sit with real people of Beverly Hills. For DineLA, Beverly Bar had 3 courses for $35. We had the Roasted Shishito Peppers with pepitas and a touch of lime. These were amazing! We should have had another plate of them! The Avocado Hummus was also a tasty starter with house made flatbreads and tons of fresh veggies. For the entree we had the crispy chicken sandwich. It did not disappoint and lived up to its name. We were so full but had room to try the warm butter cake. There was a bourbon carmel sauce that was really creamy. Such a great experience at Beverly Bar. The place was packed and we sat on the patio. It’s on Camden in Beverly Hills. Super nice place. You gotta check it out.

Spoon and Pork

On May 3rd, we stopped by the Filipino hot spot Spoon and Pork. It was so great to dine here. This place specializes in pork dishes, and we don’t actually eat pork, but we sure ate all the delicious veggie stuff at Spoon and Pork! We tried the frizzled Brussels sprouts and the mushroom salpicon. The Brussels sprouts were super tasty with a hint of garlic. The chicken wing with garlic adobo was full of Filipino flavour. We’re so lucky to have Spoon and Pork in the Sawtelle neigborhood. This area is called Sawtelle or West Little Tokyo. Everyone loves having Filipino food in the neighbourhood. Spoon and Pork gets so busy. It’s a really good deal and a really nice place. Check it out if you’re on the Westside!

Carasau

The coolest wine bar in Culver City is Carasau. Owner Vincenzo Porcu comes from Sardinia in Italy. Vincenzo is so cool. Everybody loves Vincenzo and Carasau is an incredible place to get gourmet food and a glass of fine wine. It’s also a really nice place to relax with your friends or family. The food here is traditional Sardinian recipes and each dish is expertly made. Carasau is known for having the best Italian food in Los Angeles. Furthermore, the best Sardinian Italian food which nobody does. The Culurgiones are potato filled ravioli with tomato sauce. Holy cow! This is the best ravioli I’ve ever had! Delicious sauce as well. The DineLA menu at Carasau was $45 per person and featured three courses. The Minestrone soup had a pile of deliciously diced veggies. You’re always supposed to try the Minestone at an Italian place. This Minestrone was off the charts! For our third course we had the gelato. It was so elegantly presented. Carasau is a destination restaurant for Los Angeles. Century City is buzzing with excitement. There’s several movie studios in the area including Sony, Culver Studios and several others. Carasau is a lot of fun. Carasau is also next door to Amazon Cinema. This is Amazon’s first movie theater screening blockbusters and Amazon Prime movies side by side. Come on down for a bite to eat and check out the neighbourhood. Movie star John Wayne used to own the iconic Culver Hotel down the street.

Chill Since 93

This is my new favorite pizza spot! Chill Since ’93 is located in the Grove in the most Chill spot. They have a huge sidewalk patio and lots of room to sit down after shopping at the Grove. Chill Since ’93 serves gourmet sandwiches, delicious coffee and my favourite pizza by the slice in Los Angeles! The DineLA menu featured a $15 lunch which was a great deal. You got to choose a slice of pizza, get a drink and a a cookie. The vegan pizza was off the charts and the crust is so crispy! Chill Since ’93 has a huge sidewalk patio on the sidewalk that is so nice. A great place to sit and have a bite while shopping at the Grove.

We had a great time at all of the restaurants that participated in DineLA Restaurant Week 2023. We look forward to the sampling new restaurants at the next DineLA.
